About Us
Ferris Home Improvements was founded in 2004 by Delaware native, Walter “Reds” Ferris. Reds began the company with only one full-time crew member – himself, but has since grown FHI rapidly, employing a full-time crew and running two trucks throughout the day. The construction team has over 40 years of experience, specializing in both commercial and residential indoor and outdoor improvements. On average, FHI completes hundreds of jobs each year, but owner Reds Ferris still meets with each customer before they sign a work order.
“I always look forward to meeting my customers because I want them to know that they can trust me and my crew. Chances are I’ve already met them before or I know someone in their social circle because I was born and raised in New Castle County, and now my wife and I live in Wilmington,” says Ferris. For Ferris Home Improvements, being a locally owned and operated contracting company is a considerable asset in an industry that has a tough reputation for establishing trust: “Many customers hiring a contractor never know what they’re getting when they sign a contract, but I see my customers at the ball fields, the grocery store, at church and at the sports bar, so I never leave a job that I’m not proud to put my name on,” says Ferris.
Ferris Home Improvements is also very active in the community. We regularly sponsor local sports teams, donate funds to programs designed to improve the community, donate maintenance services to the elderly in need, and support local food and gift drives during the holidays. “It’s natural for us to give back to the neighborhood because it’s in line with our company’s focus—our customers. Repairing, renovating, and improving the value of your property not only makes your home a better place to live, but it also makes our community a better place to live and raise a family, which is what all of us want,” says Ferris.
